According to the USDA, its Food Safety and Inspection Service ("FSIS") has issued a Public Health Warning against consuming certain batch/lots of All Natural Laura's, Kroger and Private Selection Ground Beef products that may be adulterated with Escherichia coli ("E. coli") O26.

This recall was initiated after a consumer submitted a retail package of Ground Beef produced by Empire Packing bearing a use-or-freeze-by date of "December 24, 2021" to a third-party laboratory for microbiological analysis. The consumer reported previously becoming ill but did not get tested for E coli.  The third-party laboratory confirmed the Ground Beef sample was positive for E. coli O26.

==> For information about E. Coli Poisoning, please consult the "Illnesses" tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can't access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ground Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: while these Ground Beef products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the period ranging from December 15, 2021 to January 30, 2022, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Escherichia coli.
